For the Love of...Food Memoirs

Anyone who follows this blog knows that my primary concentration is on newly released women's hardcover fiction...but I'm also a sucker for a good food memoir.

Two new ones hit the shelves this spring: I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti by Giulia Melucci and A Homemade Life by Molly Wizenberg. I can't wait to read them, and it made me think about my five all-time favorites:

Tender at the Bone by Ruth Reichl
Comfort Me With Apples by Ruth Reichl
Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain
Trail of Crumbs by Kim Sunee
Cooking for Mr. Latte by Amanda Hesser

If you're a foodie, is there one I've left off the list? Have a favorite of your own?

I actually just received I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti to review on my blog. I can't wait to read it! Have you read The School of Essential Ingredients by Erica Bauermeister? It came out earlier this year and I loved it.

I LOVED A Homemade Life, which I finished up last weekend. I still need to post a review, but it's really good.

I just adore food memoirs. I'll have to add these two to my list, plus the Kim Sunee and Amanda Hesser books - I've read Reichl's books and of course Kitchen Confidential, loved them both! Have you read Jeffrey Steingarten's The Man Who Ate Everything? That's on my list of favorites, too.

I've never really read too many books like this except for the Kate Jacobs books and they were pretty good but I'm sure there are better ones out there. After reading your list, I might just look for them at the library.

I love food so they would be right up my alley!

How about the Laurie Colwin book? There are several on your list that I haven't read, so I need to find copies. Thanks.

I am a foodie, but can you believe I've not read any of these?! But I love Anthony Bourdain - what a trip he is! I'm going to have to check these books out.

I love reading foodie books as well. I have read the Reichl books but none of the others. I have a copy of I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti and haven't read it yet. I'm so glad to hear that you liked it. I am going to have to add these to my wishlist! I second the recommendation for The School of Essential Ingredients. It's a perfect book for foodies.

The Sharper Your Knife, The Less You Cry by Kathleen Flinn and Julie & Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously by blogger Julie Powell are both good books (and the later is being made into a movie staring Meryll Streep)!
