Sunday Salon 9-20

First, congratulations to all of the BBAW nominees and winners! Once again, Amy did a great job at organizing/hosting this great celebration of book bloggers. What a wonderful community!

I finished Bird in Hand by Christina Baker Kline this week. It was a powerful story of the lives of two couples, four best friends, in the aftermath of a tragic accident and the revelation of an affair. Told from all four perspectives, and alternating between the past and the present, the novel was raw and real...and completely engaging.

I also read Official Book Club Selection, Kathy Griffin's just-released memoir, which I adored. Love her or hate her (and those are basically the only two mindsets about her...she's one polarizing woman), she's a gal who's truly worked her way to where she is now. Lest you think her book is just skewering celebrities left and right, it also deals with some pretty deep issues, including sexual abuse, eating disorders, plastic surgery, and the dissolution of her marriage. It's a fascinating examination of her career, with great insider stories and her signature humor.

In good timing with Oprah's latest pick, I've just started No Time to Wave Goodbye by Jacquelyn Mitchard, which is the sequel to Deep End of the Ocean, Oprah's first book club selection.

Happy weekend reading, everyone!

I think I'll be catching up on BBAW posts for years to come. LOL

I'll be curious to read what you think of No Time to Wave Goodbye. I really liked Deep End of the Ocean when I read it.

I hope you are having a great week, Jill!
