"Waiting On" Wednesday: The Year We Left Home

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted here, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

The Year We Left Home
By Jean Thompson
Publication Date: May 3

From Simon & Schuster:

Stretching from the early 1970s in the Iowa farmlands to suburban Chicago to the coast of contemporary Italy—and moving through the Vietnam War's aftermath, the farm crisis, the numerous economic boomsand busts—The Year We Left Home follows the Erickson siblings as they confront prosperity and heartbreak, setbacks and triumphs, and seek their place in a country whose only constant seems to be breathtaking change. Ambitious, richly told, and fiercely American, this is a vivid and moving meditation on our continual pursuit of happiness and an incisive exploration of the national character.

I haven't heard of that book. Though it doesn't sound like a book I'd pick up and read, it sounds pretty good. :) Hope you get to read it soon!

You had me at Iowa farmlands! Great pick (as usual)! (I took the week off from picking because my TBR is already imploding on me.)

Hm. I'll try it - I'm pretty open minded when it comes to new stuff. :3 My backlog is already about to fall and drown me, but what's one more to the pile?

Also, I linked you. I hope you don't mind. :)

Doesn't necessarily sound like a book I would normally pick up, but I've learned to never dismiss any book until I've read it (or at least attempted to read it).
