"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted here, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:
An Available Man
By Hilma Wolitzer
Publication Date: January 24
From Amazon:
When Edward Schuyler, a modest and bookish 62-year-old science teacher, is widowed, he finds himself ambushed by female attention. The problem is that Edward doesn’t feel available. He’s still mourning his beloved wife, Bee, and prefers solitude and the familiar routine of work, gardening, and bird-watching. But then his stepchildren surprise him by placing a personal ad in The New York Review of Books on his behalf. Soon the letters flood in, and Edward is torn between his loyalty to Bee’s memory and his growing longing for connection. Gradually, reluctantly, he begins dating, and his encounters are variously startling, comical, and sad. Just when Edward thinks he has the game figured out, a chance meeting proves that love always arrives when it’s least expected.

Great pick but it doesn't sound like my kind of read.
My W.O.W: http://mochalattereads.blogspot.com/2011/08/waiting-on-wednesday19.html
The summary sounds really really sweet. Awww.
This sounds good, but I'd like to see Edward be around 42 instead of 62...lol...Very interesting selection this week! *wagging eyebrows* Lol...ha ha ha...
Hah, that sounds cute. :)
That book sounds interesting. =]
Here is what I am waiting for:

That sounds like such a sweet book; a very interesting choice.
Wonderful choice! This sounds both sweet and sad.
Aw. That sounds good, although probably not something I'd read right away.
I really love the sound of this one since I am both a teacher and 60 myself and have had a few interesting dates like this character. Great pick!
Awesome pick! Thanks for this meme.
Here is my WOW. everyone's welcome to check it out!

Sounds like a really sweet book.
Here's my WoW for this week.

Thanks for alerting me to watch for this! I've read more of Meg Wolitzer (Hilma Wolitzer's daughter, I believe) but I'll be looking for An Available Man when it comes out.
Original pick. Thank you for hosting.
This sounds like a fun read, I'll have to add it to my TBR list! :)
Here's my WOW post: http://thoughts-of-an-endless-dreamer.blogspot.com/2011/08/waiting-on-wednesday-18.html

Sounds interesting, but I'm going to wait for a review before I add it to my list. Thanks for sharing.
This sounds like a really sweet book. :)
It's not what I usually go for (sounds like it might be a little sad), but I'll be keeping an eye open for what others say about it.
Our W.O.W.
Nice pick, it sounds sweet. I may try it My WOW is

The book sounds sweet, but I'm not sure it's the right book for me right now.
Sounds uplifting. I may give it a go.

Sounds interesting! Thanks for posting.
I have read something by this author, but cannot remember what...I'm going to check this one out, though, as it sounds like the kind of book I love.
Thanks for mentioning this book--I've written it down as a possibility for my book club. Happy reading!
It's never too late for love! Sounds like a very good book!
Great pick, I don't usually read books told from the man's point of view.
Sounds like a really interesting premise. I'm sure this sort of situation occurs quite a bit in real life. A 62 year old man, just getting back into the dating game would make for a great read.
That book sounds so sweet and funny. Totally unexpected, that's for sure.
Megan @ Read It, See It
This sounds cute! Feel free to check out my WoW here.
Rumana @ Relook the Book
Have seen this meme all over the place. My first time participating. Happy Wednesday everyone!
That book sounds so cute! I always wish that my grandma would start dating again because she's always alone at home, but she just says, "I don't need a man." And I love her for it! :)
Here's my WOW! And there's still time to enter my 100 Followers Giveaway if you want! :)
Thanks for putting this together every week. My pick is The Postmortal - Working for the Mandroid
Interesting choice. Not sure if it's a book I would actually read but it does sound pretty unique.
My pick for this week:

Sounds sad! I don't know if it's my kind of read but it would be interesting. I always see this meme but this is my first time posting one:)

I don't normally gravitate towards adult books, but this one sounds really good. I think I'm going to have to check it out.

Interesting to see a female author write a book from a man's perspective! Looks like a heartwarming read.

Sounds like an endearing story. Nice selection.
I had the pleasure of hearing Luis speak at Miami Book Fair a couple of years ago. He is amazing. This new novel will be awesome.
Doesn't sound like my type of book but I am sure others will like it :D
Your pick sounds very bittersweet.
Appreciate your comment on my WoW post, Jill. :) I will try and do it every week, it's fun to see all the different books people pick.
Unusual selection, and probably not one I would find while browsing the shelves at the bookstore.
