"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted here, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:
The Odds
By Stewart O'Nan
Publication Date: January 19
From Amazon:
Valentine's weekend, Art and Marion Fowler flee their Cleveland suburb for Niagara Falls, desperate to recoup their losses. Jobless, with their home approaching foreclosure and their marriage on the brink of collapse, Art and Marion liquidate their savings account and book a bridal suite at the Falls' ritziest casino for a second honeymoon. While they sightsee like tourists during the day, at night they risk it all at the roulette wheel to fix their finances...and save their marriage. A tender yet honest exploration of faith, forgiveness and last chances, The Odds is a reminder that love, like life, is always a gamble.

That book totally sounds like a winner!
ReplyDeleteHm, haven't heard of this one. Sounds interesting. :)
ReplyDeleteNice cover!
ReplyDeleteSounds like there's a lot going on here.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'd be as brave or as crazy as the protagonists in gambling my future away. But it sounds like a crazy good book. :)
ReplyDeleteHaven't heard of this one before but nice choice!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a great one for this day and age. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteSounds great!
ReplyDeleteI'm always impressed by your choice of books... Way back in college, I could've chosen the same... It reminds me of those simple and peaceful moments of my life... :P (weird, right?) =)
ReplyDeleteThis does not sound like a book I would enjoy, but maybe when I get older :) Great pick, though!
ReplyDeleteLove, Carina
YAY, Niagara Falls! I beamed when I saw that in the summary because I'm a proud Canadian and I live near the falls. They're so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds like such a sweet read! Life IS like a gamble sometimes, and love definitely is. I really hope you like it when it comes out because it sounds crazy good, Jill! Like always. :)
Here's my WOW!
Couldn't help but laugh at "the Falls' ritziest casino" - having been there, I can honestly say it's nicer than most of the government run casinos in Ontario, but nothing like Vegas. :)
ReplyDeleteIntereting as I've never heard of this. Awesome choice.
ReplyDeleteI've already got this one on my list. Nice choice!
ReplyDeleteThat sound like a move that will lead to disaster but this is fiction. Wonder how it works out.reciept
ReplyDeleteThis one sounds good! Love the cover, too!

ReplyDeleteSounds like a very heartfelt read!
ReplyDeleteOooo That sounds cool! and different. I bet it's good. Niagra Falls and Casinos to save a marriage. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteOh, that book sounds as if it can't end happily, but I hope it does! Nice pick.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds really good. I love stories where people rally to fight for what they want... which is kind of how this sounds. I'm not sure gambling is the way to go but I like the idea of couple pulling together, when their relationship is fragile...
ReplyDeleteHere’s my WoW post! ~ Jen @ A Book and a Latte

I read this one last month and really enjoyed it. It was my first O'Nan, but it certainly won't be my last. Enjoy it!
