"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted here, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:
Gone
By Cathi Hanauer
Publication Date: June 19
From Amazon:
For the past 14 years, Eve Adams has worked part-time while raising her two children and emotionally supporting her sculptor husband, Eric, through his early fame and success. Now, at forty-two, she suddenly finds herself with a growing career of her own—even as Eric’s career sinks deeper into the slump it slipped into a few years ago.
After a dinner at a local restaurant to celebrate Eve’s success, Eric drives the babysitter home and, simply, doesn’t come back. Eve must now shift the family in possibly irreparable ways, forcing her to realize that competence in one area of life doesn’t always keep things from unraveling in another.

ReplyDeletexo,
La Toya (La Toya, Literally.)
This one sounds interesting! "Gone" sounds like an autobiography of a friend of my mom's. It's almost identical to her life. Great pick!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of this author or book before. Your teaser has me interested enough to look it up and add it to my TBR pile--but it does sound sad!! Have you read any other books from this author??

I always love checking out your selections because they aren't usually in the genre that I would gravitate to, but they tempt me to try new things... This is definitely one that I'm going to write down, though I'll have to wait for the right mood to read it. Sounds as though it will be heart warming, but thoroughly depressing.
ReplyDeleteHappy WoW!

This one sounds really good! I think I see my TBR growing!
ReplyDeleteHmmm...I'll have to think about this one. At first I thought it sounded like a mystery - husband doesn't return - but after checking it out a little more, it seems like a story of a relationship and taking a "time out". Thanks for highlighting it.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a heartbreaking, but ultimately victorious, read. Great pick!
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteMy WoW this week is The Loners by Lex Thomas: http://bookstrings.blogspot.com/2012/03/wow-15.html
You pick the best books!
ReplyDeleteAnother great pick. I pinned this one to my Books I want to read board so I don't forget (I have too many books on Goodreads now I tend to forget them, but I'm afraid this will happen with Pinterest as well). Gone sounds like just the novel I like to read in the midst of the books I normally read.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a very emotional and suspense filled book. I really like the cover.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a book many women could relate to.
ReplyDeleteLove the Waiting on Wednesday feature.
ReplyDeleteMy my sometimes men just stink..lol
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good one. Have fun reading and a great week Jill.

My first thought on reading that summary is that it sounds unbearably sad. I hope there's HOPE in it somewhere.

ReplyDeleteThe hubby leaves and never comes back, just skips out on his family. What a loser, but it makes for a good story about survival and independence. Maybe they will even find a way to get back together?
ReplyDeleteThis is my first WoW! :) Mine was for the book "Want"! The cover looks amazing and it's about a girl wanting to become a piano virtuoso! -Amanda
ReplyDeleteHmmm sounds thoughtful and provoking. I went with a serious theme as well this week with Ferocity Summer by Alissa Grosso.
ReplyDeleteNot sure this is a book I'd like but I love the cover!
ReplyDelete&This is my first WoW. Awesome meme! :)
