"Waiting On" Wednesday: The Tin Horse

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted here, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

The Tin Horse
By Janice Steinberg
Publication Date: January 29

From Amazon:

It has been more than 60 years since Elaine Greenstein’s twin sister, Barbara, ran away, cutting off contact with her family forever. Elaine has made peace with that loss. But while sifting through old papers as she prepares to move to Rancho MaƱana—or the “Ranch of No Tomorrow” as she refers to the retirement community—she  is stunned to find a possible hint to Barbara’s whereabouts all these years later. And it pushes her to confront the fierce love and bitter rivalry of their youth during the 1920s and ’30s, in the Jewish neighborhood of Boyle Heights, Los Angeles.

In the stunning tradition of Lisa See, Maeve Binchy, and Alice Hoffman, The Tin Horse is  a rich multi-generational story about the intense, often fraught bond sisters share and the dreams and sorrows that lay at the heart of the immigrant experience.

I haven't heard of this book yet - I love books that take place in the 20's, and the cover is really unique and memorable. I will definitely be looking out for this one too!

I hadn't heard of this one but it does sound interesting. Definitely not in my usual genre array though. Thanks for sharing! ^.^

Cool pick! This sounds pretty deep. I haven't really read a lot of stuff involving immigrant experience, or the 20s. Very unique.

I commend the writers of multi-generation fiction. I just can't write it. Just can't. Lovely book choice.
