"Waiting On" Wednesday: Amity & Sorrow

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted here, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Amity & Sorrow
By Peggy Riley
Publication Date: April 16

From Amazon:

A mother and her daughters drive for days without sleep until they crash their car in rural Oklahoma. The mother, Amaranth, is desperate to get away from someone she's convinced will follow them wherever they go--her husband. The girls, Amity and Sorrow, can't imagine what the world holds outside their father's polygamous compound. Rescue comes in the unlikely form of Bradley, a farmer grieving the loss of his wife. At first unwelcoming to these strange, prayerful women, Bradley's abiding tolerance gets the best of him, and they become a new kind of family.

  21. This sounds so different from every other book out there, but I'm sorry, who would name their kid Sorrow? Sounds like Sorrow is in for a sad, depressing life.

  23. Whoa. My first time reading a synopsis that revolves around polygamy. Sounds pretty damn interesting though. There could be a an opportunity for a lot of quirky, finding youself things in here-as the two women adjust to being in a completely different family setting. Will check this out for sure!

  24. Did you say polygamous compound? Sounds like a book I'd love, but I have to wonder who would name a child Sorrow.
