"Waiting On" Wednesday: Sweet Damage
"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted here, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:
By Rebecca James
Publication Date: December 2
Tim Ellison feels lucky when he finds a cheap place to rent in his dream location, close to the restaurant where he works as a chef, and even closer to his favorite surf spot at Sydney’s popular Manly Beach. But the cavernous house is infused with a sense of foreboding, and his furnished room there comes with a condition: He must look after the mansion’s mysterious owner.
Anna London is withdrawn and frail, a 20-year-old with the inexplicable demeanor and habits of an elderly woman. From her grand home on the hill, she can see the city and the ocean, but she can never leave. Her anxieties keep her locked inside, unable to face the outside world.
As Tim settles in, he struggles to get to know the person who depends on him for food and care. Slowly, Anna reveals glimpses of herself—her history, her sadness, her crippling fears. Tim is startled to find that even as his unease about the house grows, he is increasingly attracted to its hauntingly beautiful owner. But is Anna London someone to pity, someone to love, or someone to fear?

Hmmm... intriguing book summary! I can't tell if it's meant to be horror, paranormal, or what. Thanks for sharing!

Wow, this book sounds like one not to be missed! I'll definitely be adding this to my TBR. I haven't read a good mystery in awhile. Great pick!
Here's my WoW.
This one sounds intriguing - love the Australia setting and a reclusive 20 year old (you don't hear about that very often!)
It seems like you read a lot of things I haven't heard of. I might have to start paying more attention to these books.
Sounds interesting and mysterious. Good Pick! Thanks for sharing.
I haven't heard of Sweet Damage before, but it sounds really, really good though. Love the cover as well sorta reminds me of the old V.C. Andrews covers.
Sounds like it might be a little bit of a tense read.
Ooooh! This one sounds definitely intriguing! Great pick!

That sounds lovely and sad, though the end pushes it more towards the creepy. I'm not sure if this is one I would pick up, but thanks for sharing!
Sounds really interesting, but definitely looks like it could be a little creepy. Thanks for sharing. :)
Hey, this sounds deliciously mysterious, and a little creepy, as well! I normally don't like anything that might be scary, but, in this case, I definitely want to find out what's going on with Anna, and whether she and Tim will become a couple! GREAT pick!! : )
Oh my goodness! What a pick!! This sounds really good. I'll be adding this one to my tbr. Thanks for sharing and for always hosting WOW. :)
