"Waiting On" Wednesday: Kitchens of the Great Midwest

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted here, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Kitchens of the Great Midwest
By J. Ryan Stradal

Publication Date: July 28

From Amazon:

When Lars Thorvald’s wife, Cynthia, falls in love with wine—and a dashing sommelier—he’s left to raise their baby, Eva, on his own. He’s determined to pass on his love of food to his daughter—starting with puréed pork shoulder. As Eva grows, she finds her solace and salvation in the flavors of her native Minnesota. From Scandinavian lutefisk to hydroponic chocolate habaneros, each ingredient represents one part of Eva’s journey as she becomes the star chef behind a legendary and secretive pop-up supper club, culminating in an opulent and emotional feast that’s a testament to her spirit and resilience.

What's your "waiting on" pick this week?

The synopsis along for this book made me laugh. I recognize a lot since I've lived most of my life in the midwest. Interesting choice.

My Waiting On Wednesday will be a long time coming and I'm already jumping out of my skin excited about it.

Though the food angle is interesting, let me just say 'lutefisk'? Um, no! LOL

Oh, this looks wonderful. I love books that feature food prominently (although like some other commenters, I'm also not thrilled by lutefisk. My boyfriend looooves it, though). I'll have to remember to keep an eye out for this one. Man, oh man, do I love the idea of a pop-up supper club, though. Thanks for posting about this one!

I overall enjoyed it. Good mixture of characters. Lead grows up to be somewhat boring but good people around her.
