"Waiting On" Wednesday: Why We Came to the City

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted here, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Why We Came to the City
By Kristopher Jansma

Publication Date: February 16

From Amazon:

Five years after their college graduation, the devoted friends once known as “the Murphys” remain as inseparable as ever. Over the years that follow, this cast of rich, warmly drawn characters scrape by chasing their dreams in Great Recession New York. They watch acquaintances drop like flies and cling ever tighter to one another. When a devastating blow threatens to tear them irreparably apart, they must struggle to carry on together.

I wonder if this would be considered "New Adult" since they're five years after college --is that too old to be considered "NA"?

@The Artist Librarian. That's the same question I'm asking myself. The Cover is kind of YA-style (all glittery and beautiful). I think, the story will have a little more depth than someone might think just looking at the Cover.

It does sound like it has some depth to it. And that it could have an overall positive message.

Looks like it could be very interesting. Kind of a New Adult mixed with a Coming of Age mixed with a Contemporary. I agree the cover looks YA. So I think this may be one of those that is super nuanced and richly detailed, or it's going to be a hot mess with everything mashed together. My WoW

Sounds like it might be a fun read!

Adding to my tbr, this sounds so void. Yeah it also does sound like a new adult.

Let me know how you like this one! I feel like I should start veering towards reading new adult since I'm going to be a freshmen in college. Maybe Why We Came to the City will be a good start!

I want to have some romantic in this week. I'm thinking of reading Emma by Jane Austen again.
