"Waiting On" Wednesday: The Newlyweds

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted here, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

The Newlyweds
By Nell Freudenberger
Publication Date: May 1

From Amazon:

Amina Mazid is 24 when she leaves Bangladesh for Rochester, New York, and for George Stillman, the husband who met and wooed her online. It's a 21st century romance that echoes ancient traditions--the arranged marriages of her home country. And though George falls for Amina because she is "straightforward" and doesn't "play games," each is hiding something from the other. Amina struggles to find her place in America--as a Muslim woman, an aspiring teacher, a wife with her own desires. But it is only when they put an ocean between them that Amina and George will discover whether they have a future--or if their secrets will tear them apart.

Doesn't sound like a book for me, but I hope you love it when you read it! :)

I just love when a book deals with different cultures and totally different worlds colliding

I don't think it's for me, but I hope you enjoy it. And as usual when it comes to your choices, a book I've never heard of until now :-)

My WOW

I like how the cover is so simple.

Is it just my imagination or do those beaks look like they are aiming for eyes and throats? The summary sounds good though. Enjoy!

This sounds like a unique story. It's great to see a description that seems original!

It so happened that I am in a relationship with someone from a different culture so I'm quite curious as to how the story will play out. :)

Though it isn't my usual fare, it does sound like an interesting read. I wonder if the husband is Muslim and what the secrets are. Good choice!

Hi, Jill! WOW is right!!! This is quite a plot synopsis! I'm LOVING this book already!! And that in spite of the cover, which is not really my cup of tea, in spite of the obvious metaphor -- "birds of a feather flock together"... Apparently the protagonists need to discover whether or not they are, indeed, "birds of a feather". Well, sure sounds like a wonderful, angst-filled read!! I'll have to put this novel in my already humongous TBR pile! Lol. (Psst! Whoever invented the saying "less is more" was totally wrong! The more books in my TBR mountain, the more I want, especially those that 'speak' to me, which this one surely does.)

Thank you so much for sharing!

May you & your family have a very blessed holiday season, and thanks loada for this book meme/blog hop!!

The description sounds good. I never would have guessed from the cover.

Seems like a very deep read... the cover and title are both simple... but the story itself seems like a complicated one. Good luck with this book! Happy Holidays!

Sounds quite interesting actually but I don't think it would be something I would usually read.

My WOW

I can only imagine what that would be like. I wonder why the author chose upstate New York.

A husband she met online? That's honestly so cool!! x) Even though my parents would probably kill me if I tried to do that, online dating is actually getting more popular with the years! It makes me kinda intrigued to see where the author will take the story! :)

Here's my WOW!

YAY for another awesome Wednesday, Jill! Thank you SO much for hosting this & I hope you have to most amazing day! :) <3
