"Waiting On" Wednesday: Stella Bain

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted here, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Stella Bain
By Anita Shreve

Publication Date: November 12

From Amazon:

When an American woman, Stella Bain, is found suffering from severe shell shock in an exclusive garden in London, surgeon August Bridge and his wife selflessly agree to take her in.

A gesture of goodwill turns into something more as Bridge quickly develops a clinical interest in his houseguest. Stella had been working as a nurse's aide near the front, but she can't remember anything prior to four months earlier when she was found wounded on a French battlefield.

In a narrative that takes us from London to America and back again, Shreve has created an engrossing and wrenching tale about love and the meaning of memory, set against the haunting backdrop of a war that destroyed an entire generation.

What's your "waiting on" pick this week?

I don't usually feel any interest in books that have something to do with wars, but this one actually sounds interesting.

I've heard a lot about Anita Shreve and have never had the time to read one of her novels. This one sounds great though!

I saw this one and while I love Shreve, I prefer a more contemporary setting. (Same goes for Bohjalian and his new book).

That sounds good. I just read Letters from Skye and A Light in the Ruins has been on my radar, so I seem to be gravitating towards that timeframe lately. Thanks for the share.

Sorry I'm late to the party today. I went on a family day trip and we got back at dinnertime. Better late than never! I have a good selection this week for suspense fans.
