"Waiting On" Wednesday: Be Safe I Love You

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted here, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Be Safe I Love You
By Cara Hoffman

Publication Date: April 1

From Amazon:

Lauren Clay has just returned from a tour of duty in Iraq in time to spend Christmas with her family. As she reconnects with her old friends, it’s clear to everyone in their rural New York town that something is wrong with Lauren. But her father is so happy to have her home that he ignores the warning signs—her odd behavior and the repeated phone calls from an Army psychologist. Things seem better when Lauren offers to take her younger brother Danny on a trip to visit their mother upstate. Instead, she guides Danny into the glacial woods of Canada on a quest to visit the Jeanne d’Arc basin, the site of an oil field that has become her strange obsession. As they set up camp in an abandoned hunting village, Lauren believes she’s teaching Danny survival skills for the day when she’s no longer able to take care of him. But where does she think she’s going, and what happened to her in Iraq that set her on this path?

Sounds like it's probably pretty chilling (both temperature and content-wise). Hope you enjoy it!

"Be Safe I Love You" sounds like it will be an emotional roller coaster. They definitely left the reader with a lot of unanswered questions with the blurb.

Oh wow, usually I'm not into this type of genre. But I'm intrigued by the summary and would love to know more about how the plot turns out. Definitely keeping an eye out for this book!

Oh wow! War stories are always so psychological. I wonder what this girl's story is... Nice choice!

I prefer Fantasy novels and this book hits a little too close to home. However, it does seem interesting and for those who enjoy these types of novels it sounds like a good one.

Sounds like an interesting read... mysterious and very emotional. Judging by the synopsis I'm not sure I'd be able to get through something like this without a lot of tissues though. Happy Wednesday!
